Today's Melbourne "Age" on page 11 carries a brief report that the Rockhoppers of Amsterdam and St. Paul Islands are declared a new species .. thanks to research and DNA testing by French ornithologist Pierre Jouventin. The accompanying photo is a beauty, showing the splendid long feather eyebrows which adorn this population - they look like headgear suitable for a fashionable female at the Melbourne Cup.
