Not sure if this has been mentioned on birding-aus before, but I recently
found out that all of Gould's Birds of Australia (plates and text) has been
put on the web. The address is:
http://nla.gov.au/nla.aus-f4773

On a totally unrelated point, following the recent discussion on Yellow
Wagtail taxonomy, consider this:

"Owing to seasonal changes and varying phases of plumage, considerable
difference of opinion exists amongst ornithologists who have made a
life-long study of the genus Motacilla, as to the validity of certain of its
species and subspecies."

That was written in The Emu in 1906 in an article on the first Australian
Yellow Wagtail record. Has anything changed?
