Dear All
Had an interesting day at Werribee on Saturday (20th). Met up with Fiona and
Jonathan Parkin for a days tripping. While not getting any of the birds I went
for - Lewin's Rail, OBP or Aust. Bittern, I did add a couple to my WTP list.
The first bird I recorded as I stopped at the Paradise Rd gate was Dusky W/S
(about 6) - bird #1. Did all the usual places and a couple of tracks that I
didn't even know existed like the one behind the Borrow Pits. Saw a single
Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater at the eastern end of the Borrow Pits, jumping around
the dead trees before it flew off over the coast - bird#2. Saw Red-browed
Finches heading east towards Conservation Ponds - bird#3. Spotted Crakes were
seen at the Borrow Pits and along the Spit. 4 Fairy Terns were observed on
rocks just off the "beach" as we travelled between the Kirk's Pt gate and the
Hide along the beach road. All in all a good day with over 70 species seen.
