Hi all,
Went birding in my local patch in Brisbane yesterday and added yet another
new bird to my local list - Eastern Spinebill. This is by far the closest
I've seen them to Brisbane, with the next nearest being Mt Glorious. Also,
the Wandering Whistling Ducks appear to have taken up residence at Biami
Yumba lagoon - there are now 14 of them and they've been there the last 3
times I've looked for them.
Other good birds for the day:
My first Scarlet Honeyeater for the area for this year.
Rose Robins, Rufous Whistlers, Golden Whistlers, Yellow Robins,
Mistletoebirds and Mangrove Gerygones.
A pair of Olive-backed Orioles - not common in the area.
Abundant fairy-wrens - Red-backed, Variegated, and Superb, each with a male
in vivid breeding plumage.
Speaking of fairy-wrens in breeding plumage, does anyone else have
fairy-wrens that don't lose their breeding plumage over winter?
