Hi Tony, Mike Russell

I seem to be getting repeat postings [2 or 3 copies] from birding-aus for a few days now.

Cheers

This message sent 3 days ago did not get through. Although now less
useful, Russell suggested I try again as a test so here goes.

On Thursday 17 April, Andrew Silcocks and I did our monthly census of this wetland. Water levels had dropped particularly in the lakes on the north side of Edithvale Road and the swamp there was dry. The South was shallow but over 40% of the area was still inundated. Rains since then will have replenished this and reduced the area of mud.

We logged 67 species, a pleasing number for this increasingly urbanised area. Highlights included 3 Australian & 3 Spotless Crakes, 150
Sharp-tailed
Sandpipers, 1 Pectoral Sandpiper, 5 Wood Sandpipers, 22 Red-kneed
Dotterels,
40 Black-fronted Dotterels, 80 Black-winged Stilts & 1 Whistling Kite.

We also had a Common Bronzewing (rare here) and 7 Flame Robins. The latter species arrived at the due date. Andrew saw one on the 1st April!
