Hi all,

This is my first post to the list, and I just wanted to share my excitement
at finding my first Beach Stone Curlew!

Woohoo!

Sighted at among the rocks and mangroves at Point Vernon, Hervey Bay QLD.

I'd been looking for new birds to add to my list all weekend and had just
finished studying a group of Pied Cormorants (I'm sort of new to bird
watching and was teaching myself the difference between Pied & Little Pied).
Walking back to the beach I went through the mangroves and we both emerged
from the trees into the open at the same time, I'm not sure who was more
surprised, me or the Curlew. I even managed to get a few photos.

Cheers

Happy birding

PS Anyone coming up here for Kingfisher Bay's Bird Week in May?
