Hi there birders,
At lunch time yesterday I was able to observe a male and female
Blackbird foraging for food only two metres away outside our sunroom
(which makes a very good bird hide by the way). I had time to grab my
camera and get several good shots of each bird. Normally the blackbirds
in our garden are very timid and camera shy.
This species has been widespread throughout the district here in Murray
Bridge South Australia but not in our garden on the outskirts of town -
until recently. We did have the occasional Blackbird come visit over
the years but it is only in the last 5 years it has become a breeding
resident of our garden.
On several occasions it has nested inside a flower pot in a garden shed.
It was able to fly into the shed through a small gap over the door.
