Hi all

Thanks for your suggestions on possible ID for the Lake Murphy bird. For those
who don't know Chris or David, who wrote up the report, we're dealing here with
very experienced birders who would usually confirm the identify of any bird on
the Australian list in the time it takes me to take the rain guard off my
binoculars. I haven't seen Terek Sandpiper in Australia (yet!) but I've seen
them in SE Asia. I don't think it's a bird I'd easily confuse with anything
else. Between them, Chris and David may well have seen every single Terek to
come here (and it really wouldn't surprise me if Chris knew ALL their names!!).
Seriously, though - we have a couple of birders here who have described the
bird very well, which is why I've included their description on the page with
the photos. I do think they've ruled out all the "standards" - it just remains
to be seen whether anyone can find something in the description & photos that
they can link to another report for this species (w
hatever it is) - perhaps it is an abberant plumage or other characteristic
that has been described somewhere else.
