Hello all,
Just a short email to let you know that I've put up the first
installment of my Hawaii section on my website (www dot wildlifing dot
com). It covers my time on the island of Kaua'i which is the westernmost
of the main islands in the Hawaiian chain (not counting Niihau).
Apart from seeing the wonderful Alaka'i Swamp (which is a highland
rainforest that receives a LOT of rain) I managed to photograph birds
like the Anianiau, Kaua'i Amakihi, Apapane and Japanese White-eye.
Laysan Albatross, Red-footed Booby and the Nene (Hawaiian Goose) were
some of the birds that I watched at close range at Point Kilauea.
Also, I've realised that I had some problems with my New Zealand
section- some of the links between pages weren't functioning correctly.
As a result my page on the Takahe on Tiritiri Matangi didn't make it up
at all. On this page I've put up some photos of a Takahe family, 2
parents and a chick. It was touching to see such burly birds treat their
youngster with such gentle care.
