I guess most people have had enough of
this topic but I thought everyone would like to hear a story from
Newhaven.  While I was working there in 2001, the Census Dept rang
us and asked if we could help one of their staff who was bogged about 40 kms
west of Newhaven.  He was in a 4WD (can't remember what type) with a
satellite phone.  A very experienced couple set off in their Landcruiser
to assist.  When they didn't return that evening we realised that they
too must have  been bogged.  So next morning two more vehicles
headed out to help them.  When we arrived they had managed to free one of
the vehicles and the other was also out after much digging and winching.

However, their interesting story was about a
group of Aborigines who had come along in their Falcon and on seeing the
bogged vehicles decided to drive around them.  They too of course got
bogged.  But not to be daunted, they just asked everyone to push and
while the driver spun the wheels, the momentum was enough to get them out
of the bog and they continued on their way to their settlement leaving the
other two vehicles and their occupants to spend the night with the
  moquitoes.

Was it the vehicle or the driver?

I still smile every time I think about
  it.
