Hi Mike and Birding-aussers,

There were about 10 Spine-tailed Swifts at Warriewood Wetland this morning,
there was some storm clouds about but no rain at Warriewood.

There is a female Painted Button-quail permitting very close inspection at
Warriewood Wetland. I got within 2 1/2 metres of her this morning before she
moved away. Even then she only moved off a couple of metres and commenced
feeding again. She was feeding by both: walking and pecking at the fallen
casuarina branchlets and by making platelets which you can see all over the
place.

Sydney birders will never get a better opportunity to see a P.B. close up.
Park in Katoa Close, Warriewood and enter the "Swamp Walk" ( not the exact
name?) at the east end of Katoa close, walk across a small grassy patch,
over a bridge and enter a casuarina thicket not more than 35 metres from the
car park, (if you get to the boardwalk you have gone too far). She is on the
right hand side as you walk in. The bird is perfectly camouflaged and
chances are you won't see her until she moves.

Good luck, Bruce.
