I was out there this morning with Evan. I turned left from the Lane into Cornwallis Road. There is a field with quite high grass and large hay bales there (on the left, across the road from the river). Keith and Alan were already there and we were fortunate enough to run into them. We flushed one quail (I understand Keith and Alan flushed some more before we arrived) and Ev and I saw a group of 7 brown quail at the side of the road. There was also a black shouldered kite hanging around.

After tramping around for a while Keith played some calls of the King Quail and received a healthy response, but we were unable to flush the bird.

The farmer didn't seem to mind us all tramping about his field (which looks to be fallow at the moment, save for the hay).

I'll post a full listing of the birds Ev and I saw in the area later.

Hi All,

I'm thinking of going out this weekend to try for the quails at the Cuppits Lane/Cornwallis Rd site.  Which side of the interstection have the quail been seen and do you need permission to enter this area? Cheers.
