The meaning of catholic (small c) is universal or broad- in other words the Magpie ain't too fussy about where it lives.

In my previous Field Guide, the Ausralian Museum photographic field guide, it lists the habitat of the Australian Magpie (and others for that matter) as "Catholic in the extreme". What on earth does that mean? Near churches?
