Thanks for the message David. I think details of some of these sightings are
also on Birdpedia.

Hi Birders

It seems that rare waders are not just appearing in Victoria this summer.
Last weekend local birding identity Colin Rogers did some birding at
Cheetham Saltfields (formerly Penrice ) north of Adelaide. On the Sunday
afternoon he kindly showed me S.A.'s very own Red-necked Phalarope that he
had found in the morning. Plus four Terek Sandpipers together. On the
following Monday Colin also located a Broad-billed Sandpiper. Other Waders
of interest locally so far this summer have included up to 11 Long-toed
Stints at Greenfields Wetlands (reported by John Cox), a single Reeve at the
Saltfields, several Pec's about the place and in early November the
Hudsonian Godwit was back again for another summer.

It seems a bit "freaky" that not only has an Oriental Pratincole turned up
in both southern states so far this year but Red-necked Phalarope now as
well. Looks like both States are going to have a good summer as far as
waders are concerned, so my advice would be to get out there and find 'em

P.S. Does anybody see "Cox's type" Sandpipers any more or do we just not
report them because they are hybrids?

Cheers
David Harper
