Hi Everyone,
While walking in a local park today we saw 5
Magpie Lark nests all close together in two trees
adjacent to a lagoon in Old Orchard Estate at Palmwoods. One was
being used by White-breasted Woodswallows, one by Crested Pigeons and another by
the Peewees themselves. The nests are made of a combination of grass and
mud with much more grass than usual. It was interesting to see the pigeons
on a substantially built mud nest instead of their usual flimsy stick nest.
Does anyone know if Magpie Larks often hand over (or have their nests taken
over) by other birds? Maybe Sea Change prices apply to birds as well
as humans.
