The following story showed up today on the ABC news website:

Wading birds fly interference for WA gas plant

Plans to build a gas plant at one of Australia's most significant site
for shorebirds in Western Australia could face stiff opposition.
Woodside is looking at several sites for an LNG plant to service the
Browse basin gas fields, north of Broome.
It is currently canvassing the community's views on housing the facility
at Roebuck Bay, the summer home to about 150,000 migratory wader birds.
A member of the International Waders Study Group, Dr Clive Minton says
with Woodside's strong environmental record, he is confident Roebuck Bay
will soon be crossed off the list of possible sites.
"It's the most important site in Australia, it's one of the five top
sites for wading birds in the whole world," he said.
Business and civic leaders welcome the prospect of an alternative
industry to tourism, but have declined to support the bay as a potential
site.
