Not to be confused with the snake story! Last weekend I witnessed a young Peregrine snatch something from the top of a tree. It then looked like it was eating it on the wing for at least a couple of minutes. On looking at the photos closely later we realised it had a stick in its talons. Anyone got any ideas about what it would do with a stick?? My best guess so far is that it went for something and missed but the small branch came off in the strike. However I don’t know why it would hold onto it for so long. If Stephen or Penny are reading this perhaps they could shed some more light? I have some (not 100% sharp) photos but they don’t seem to show anything small attached to the stick that the Peregrine might be eating. Cheers Dave Sydney |
