Dear confused Birding Ausers

Well at least the subject line is confusing. However, in an attempt to clarify
the coucal issue I submit the following. We often seen Pheasant Coucals fly on
our campus (near Port Moresby in PNG)- often 50-80m but sometimes up to 100m.
This is level flight or sometimes even slightly uphill, and is certainly more
than gliding. They still do a lot or walking and taking small flights from
branch to branch to get up a tree.

Happy coucal and swift watching

Mike
