Hello all,
Am away at the moment having just finished cruising the Coral Sea. The main seabird was Wedge-tailed Shearwater, followed by Tahiti Petrel, with small numbers of Black-winged Petrel. Two birds of particular interest were a Collared Petrel, 152nm off Gladstone, QLD. This bird flew past the bow of the boat and I managed to take several photos. If accepted this would be a first for Australia.
The other bird was a possible Beck's Petrel. This small/unusual tahiti type petrel was not much bigger than a Black-winged petrel and was sighted in Australia's Coral Sea Territory just south of Cato Island earlier this week. Photos were also obtained by myself.
