It is not often you can get so close to a Radjah Shelduck to appreciate their yellow-rimmed eyes or their black-rimmed nostrils! The obliging pair where present in the Mungo Brush Campground yesterday 9 November in the mid afternoon loafing in the shade before moving out to feed in the grassy campground. This site is a haven for tame waterfowl, with Black Swans, Chestnut Teal and Pacific Black Ducks being approachable.

Happy to connect with these Radjah Shelducks after dipping badly on 25 October with Ian McAllan and Dean Purcell. Plenty of good birds to watch at this site with abundant Forest Ravens, Varied Sittella, White-throated Gerygone, Fan-tailed Cuckoo, Azure Kingfisher, Black-faced Monarch amongst others. Thanks to other observers who have been updating the sightings of these wayward ducks. A mega NSW tick.
