I agree with Sue.  I am on a number of lists as well, here in North America and none of them get the junk that BiIRDING-AUS does.   I think you might want to re-visit your decision to allow non-members to post.  None of the lists I belong to have this policy, and hence no spam.

We subscribe to multiple birding lists around the world and also here in the UK and it's only the birding-aus one that this stuff seems to come through on. Maybe we are just lucky with the other lists?
