Don't know about black wings, but some years ago I heard about a Superb
Fairy-Wren livng in that sanctuary that the fellow with the catskin hat used
to run near Adelaide. This wren had completely black underparts. The theory
was that this was age related and that the absence of feral predators
allowed this wren to get old enough to develop the extra black, whereas most
don't live long enough.
