Hi all,
my name is Shelley Harrison and I am currently doing a PhD researching the
interactions between seabirds and tuna farms near Port Lincoln SA.
I need some info on the feed requirements of the Silver Gull, i.e what % of
their body weight they need to eat per day, Basal Metabolic rates etc. I have
not been able to find any info specifically on Silver Gulls.
The closest I have come across is a paper by Geoffrey Smith and Nicholas Carlile
in Colonial Waterbirds (1992, vol. 16(1), pp. 9-17) titled 'Food and feeding
ecology of breeding silver gulls in urban Australia'.
Does anyone know how to contact either of these guys, especially Geoffrey
Smith.
If anyone has any ideas on the amount a Silver Gull needs to eat per day, for
breeding and non breeding birds, it would be great to hear a reply from you.
Also any references would be great too.
