I was interested in a couple of reports on Birdline VIC this week and
would like to comment:

Sightings

28 August
A flock of at least 2000 Fluttering Shearwaters massing in flight and on

water in very strong north winds off Altona Beach. Thanks George
Appleby.

****Yep I think alot of Fluttering Shearwater that visit NSW may be
further south this winter. I've seen very few this winter (I also
haven't seen large numbers last summer). I recall one day seeing 20,000
flying past Magic Pt in Sydney one winter a few years ago.

28 August
NO White-fronted Terns were seen at any of several expected sites in the

Altona-Pt Cook area on 28/8/2005. This appears to continue a trend this
winter of few or no individuals of this species being reported in
Victoria.
Thanks George Appleby.

****There has been very few White-fronted Terns off Sydney during the
past few winters as well. I wonder where they all are??
