Hi,

Penrhyn Estuary is now so badly degraded, with so much
disturbance from boats, dogs, anglers, picknickers and
sometimes birdwatchers like myself.

I went to check with Penrhyn Estuary on Friday noon
during high tide and was still rising. No migrant from
northern hemisphere yet. The Double-banded Plovers
were still around with more colourful plumage, but
lower in number, about 6~8.

Also about 20 Overstaying Bar-tailed Godwit and small
number of Red-capped Plovers.

Interesting to see one lonely Pacific Golden Plover
and 3 Red-necked Stints. They are very likely the
overstayers that I last photographed in end April,
especially one particular Red-necked Stint that has a
unique damaged feather on the back, showing a small
patch of white downy feather.

If they are the same individuals persisting at Penrhyn
Estuary since April, they must be either :-

1) very 'sedentary'(not going far from this spot)

or

2) very site faithful (have been observed roosting
repeatedly at the small sandbar of the estuary, close
to small jetty) despite it is highly disturbed.

Does anyone know of this very 'sedentary' or site
fateful behaviour among migratory waders? Or any other
comments.

Not sure if these migratory birds will have any place
to go in next few years, if the
development/encroachment still goes on.

Cheers
