Hi everybody -

This year, and especially this winter, I have been seeing many more Black-shouldered Kites and Kestrels around the Bellarine Peninsula (c.100 km sw of Melbourne, Vic) than in the previous three years I have been living here, so some recent regional rise in mouse numbers is plausible.  A roadkilled Barn Owl was also seen here recently.  One question that arises is whether the bs Kites and Kestrels have come from elsewhere or bred up locally.  Has anybody else been noticing an increase of mouse-eating predators?

Cheers,
Hugo
