G'day all
I'm just back from four weeks in Ireland and a few days in Malaysia. Saw some
great birds in both places and ended up with similar totals.
In Ireland I managed to cover most areas and habitats. In Malaysia I spent time
at Kuala Selangor Nature Reserve and in the Fraser's Hill vicinity.
Highlights:
Ireland - 96 species (69 new)
Common Eider, Red-breasted Merganser, Swifts (screaming over towns), Water Rail,
Eurasian Curlew, 6 Gulls, Puffins, Fulmar, Jay, Chough, Dipper, Robin
(everywhere
but always nice), Tree-creeper, 4 Tits, Sand Martin, 8 Warblers, Siskin, Reed
Bunting - and finally being able to tick Sparrow, Starling, Greenfinch etc.
Malaysia - 98 species (68 new)
7 Woodpeckers, 4 Barbets, Rhinoceros Hornbill, Red-bearded Bee-eater,
Blue-crowned Hanging-Parrot, Brown Wood-Owl, Black Eagle, Purple Heron, Lesser
Adjutant, 2 Leafbirds, Black-and-crimson Oriole, 2 Minivets, 3 Drongos, Verditer
Flycatcher, Chestnut-naped Forktail, Blue Nuthatch, Sultan Tit, Black
Laughingthrush, 5 Sunbirds and a Spiderhunter.
I suppose I should add:
England (Heathrow) - 1 species (0 new)
Starling
