Is there any research on how many people are "connected with nature", please?

My impression is that many ARE interested in local nature but that there are so many barriers to following that up. Those include those like me who fail to devise involvement in a way which is socially enjoyable, enables children to take part, encourages people to come again, and does not demand much time or expertise.

Our most successful wildlife event was spotlighting on golf courses at night when hundreds asked to take part. That followed a large advertisement in the paper by the Council.
