I can't see why this couldn't or shouldn't be done for research purposes
with appropriate permits.  It sounds like research that could supply very
useful information for the management of parks/reserves.

On a side note, I'm heading to Idalia National Park (near Blackall in Qld)
at the end of the week.  Anyone point me at any trip reports for there.
The archives don't seem to have any.
