Today, while visiting friends, one of whom is a Nat Parks Ranger, we
were shown a discarded snake skin. The skin was not complete but
covered from the back of the head, past the mid-body and almost to the
anal area. The only way to identify it, even roughly, was a mid-body
scale row count.
This was done twice by each of us so we are certain of the accuracy of
the count but to be sure, we cut the skin, flattened it out and did a
further two counts. Each time we came up with eleven rows.
We then consulted every book we had on hand including Cogger but can
find no record of any snake with this count. Any suggestions?
I apologise for posting a non-birding request but don't know where else
to turn.
Thanks for any suggestion
