Both Malaria and Japanese Encephalitis are endemic in the Torres
Strait Islands, but the chances of picking up either are very low,
particularly at the end of the dry season when the trip is proposed and
mosquito numbers are low, and as you will be sleeping on board.
Personally I just take a good superstrength insect repellant for
forays near swamps, wear long pants and sleeves and prewash clothes in
permethrin. The new Travacalm tablets work wonders for my seasickness.
                                               Don't miss it Frank/Janet.
