On Thursday 12/5/05 I saw five Swift Parrots at Coco Creek in Capertee Valley (north-western edge of Blue Mountains). They were perched in the top of a dead River Oak at the bridge. One bird possibly a juvenile was hanging upside down as if practicing a feeding technique. All birds were preening and spreading their wings showing off their bright red underwing axillaries and coverts. They were eventually startled by a passing car and flew off towards the hills to the east.
