Hi all,

Just a quick note to let you know that the next public lecture of Birds
Australia (in Victoria) is on tonight, Thursday 12 May, at 8:00pm. We
are very fortunate to have as our guest speaker one of Australia's
leading ornithologist, Dr Andrew Bennett from Deakin University.

Andrew will discuss the conservation of woodland birds in rural
landscapes. Andrew's surveys of birds in 10 x 10 km landscapes in
northern Victoria have given new insights into the way that woodland
birds respond to landscape change. Thresholds of habitat for
conservation, types of responses by different woodland species, and the
implications for regional conservation and land use, are some of the
topics to be discussed.

The talk will be held at our usual venue: down stairs at the theatrette
at Strathcona Grammar School, Scott St, Canterbury (Melbourne) (Melways
Ref. 46 D12).

Cheers,

Tim Dolby (Convenor)
