Birders.

Two years ago, when I lived in Laurieton NSW( JUst South Of Port Macquarie) the SBB;s had well used Bowers in the garden. Some of the wonderful collections were..Blue pieces of Snapgragon flowers, white weathered wooden pegs,3" of green lemon leaves, old shells (white), dried Banksia leaves were a favourite & often thieved by other Sbb's.Dark blue piece of material, pieces of garden ties. Lots of Blue drinking straws & no blue peg was safe.Yellow pansie flowers. Brown pieces of bark were often used. Violet beads & they would find the old dried cases of the gooseberrys very attractive. Small green calyx of a native flower often turned up. There was a great exchange of Treasures, with most activity happening during July & August.  The largest item was half a blue plastic coathanger. I saw it being brought in through the trees...quite a feat. This was traded into several garden bowers.    They must have thought it really made an impression.          Janet
