Further to my previous email, I meant to mention regarding the use of petals, that I suspect the bird would use the whole flower rather than just a petal, but if the flowers were too big to carry then I see no reason at all why it wouldn't take the petals individually. This would only be the case with large exotic flowers, as most of the native blue flowers (at least here in the Blue Mountains region) are small.
