Hi,
I managed a few birdwatching trips in Tweed Heads (Northern NSW) over the
past few days. On the 14th I went to look at the sandbanks on the Tweed
River entrance at Florence Street. There were very few birds on the sand
because some children were on the bank fishing but while I was there four
Curlew flew over. I got them in the scope and two had white rumps. I assume
that means they could have been Eurasian Curlew but I didn't get a good look
at the other features.
Apart from that (almost) highlight there were also Sooty Oystercatcher, Pied
Oystercatcher and White-bellied Sea-eagle around.
Wandering around the Parks in the nearby suburb of Banora Point I saw 37
species including a pair of Wandering Whistling-Duck with four or five
ducklings, Little and Noisy Friarbirds, Brown Honeyeater and heard a
White-throated Gerygone.
On Terranora Broadwater on the 15th I saw Azure and Sacred Kingfisher,
Mistletoebird, Spangled Drongo and three Osprey.
