hi all
had the chance to wander through lovely ravensbourne NP, remnant rainforest on the range about 30km NE of toowoomba in SE Qld, last saturday.
v clear and crisp morning. at beutel's lookout we were greeted by the first of three low-flying white-headed pigeons, a wedge-tailed eagle and lots of welcome swallows.
also saw varied sitellas and a grey shrike thrush around the top picnic area.
in the forest were: a female satin bowerbird in fine voice, a female superb fruit dove (tick), bassian thrush, eastern yellow robins, white-browed scrubwrens, brown thornbills and a white-throated treecreeper.
alas no noisy pitta, which i've seen on most other visits going back a couple of decades, but it was getting late in the morning.
terribly dry up there.
regards
