Hi again
As usual I have had some enquiries to this unusual sigthing. The reason
for my decision was based on stance, breast colour, wing markings and
size. Of course, although that is my decision and I do realise that it
is fairly unlikely this bird would turn up here, other factors could
make it possible, such as nearby farmland habitat and the fact that
other rarities, including double-barred finch which I had forgotton to
mention previously were also present and several days of cold westerlies
(and believe me it has been cool up here). Due to the nature of this
sighting there will always be some doubt but I cannot put the bird down
to being anything else. It also made a few calls which I can only
describe as close to flame.
