Over the last few weeks I have had a few 'Special"
sightings I thought I should tell Birding-Ausers about.

1. An (early?) Swift Parrot flying from a Flowering
Gum 2 doors up the street. Different shape and flight from the usual suspects in
that tree at this time of the year - Musk and Rainbow Lorikeets
2. A Striated Pardalote in a tree in the other
direction down the street - usually only Spotted Pardalote!
3. Saw a good range of ducks, etc and heard
Clamorous Reed-warbler and Little Grassbird at King Rd STW in Bass/Corinella
while doing a survey for Westernport Water Board.
4. Watched a pair of Australian Hobby over the
local Community House in Cowes.

The sights you see when not expecting them - a good
justification for always carrying a pair of lightweight binoculars in the
backpack - even when 'just slipping down the street to get the
paper/milk/whatever!'
