Hi
I have used the picture in Slater as I submitted a sighting for 28/9/2003 off Little Beach, near Albany, WA, during fierce winds. As I was a lone birder and it was about 200 m out to sea it would not be accepted but it was to be published in the next Australian Seabird Bulletin. I think the reference in Slater was just in case as we have seen the Atlantic form of the Yellow-nosed Albatross off Wollongong, now a separate species, which forages in similar pelagic regions.
But a good one for Vic.
Cheers Chris

G'day all

I'm still reeling from the pelagic off Port Fairy on Sunday - I was a last
minute
fill-in on the trip so how lucky is that?

Just looking up something in the latest edition of the Slater Field
Guide and noticed it has an entry for the Atlantic Petrel - "Extremely
rare accidental from south Atlantic to south west". This implies there
is a record from sw WA. Does anyone know what this is referring to?

Good luck to those heading out to look for the bird this week.

Cheers
