My birding highlight of 2004 was on Good Friday while sailing on Sydney Harbour just to the north of Shark Island.

We were heading back to the Bridge when a Peregrine came from the north-east and attempted to get a gull that was flying just in front of us. The falcon abandoned its second attempt as we were then right on the gull.

The falcon then flew on in the direction of Shark Island and I lost sight of it. I was very impressed by the gull's avoidance manoeuvre otherwise it would have lost more than a few feathers.

Of all the 6 Peregrines I've seen they have all been in Sydney.
