On the morning of the 27th, a  C-b cuckoo arrived in the Australian Teak (Flindersia australis} growing it the back garden.
The bird stayed for about 5 minutes then took off, flying towards a stand of Camphor laurel trees.
I saw these birds over the years I lived in Laurieton (South of Port Macquarie) but this was the first in Alstonville.
One year in Laurieton a pair of channel-billed was raised by a Currawong & it is the only time I have seen an absolutely exhausted bird. I did help with suppliment  mince  with calcium & vitamins (bird variety) & together we raised these two.  The Currawong was very careful in feeding them, The food was placed  in the side of the very large bill.
One bird was possibly raised by the Currawong & the other came along for the meals.         Janet
