g'day all,

Birds Queensland Web Page http://birdsqueensland.org.au/
now includes the following ID Comparison Tables-

- Crows and Ravens (has been expanded by Irene
Denton to include all Oz species)
- Cuckoos (Danny Rogers made
major contributions to the final version )
- The Meliphagas Honeyeaters (but an unfortunate spelling error
crept into the table heading)
- Collared Sparrowhawk vs Brown Goshawk
- Grey-tailed versus Wandering Tattler
- The Terns of Queensland (14 species)

The tables have been converted to PDF (Portable Document Format)
format.
This should overcome problems by those who do not have Microsoft Word
or Excel installed.
A free reader "Adobe Acrobat 6.0" is available from
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

The Tables are best viewed by printing a copy first..
If taking into the field, make photocopies. Ink-jet printers print is
water soluble.

ID Tables are not new
e.g.
Hayman, Marchant & Prater used them in their SHOREBIRDS, 1986
(pages 391 - 399 )

A table nearing completion is Swinhoe's vs Latham's snipe.
Most of the info was harvested from a Birding-aus trail in
March,1999.

I would be pleased to know of any other ID Tables for local birds.

Regards
Bob Forsyth, Mount Isa, NW Qld.
