   Hi Tom,

A dead red goshawk was found on 1 Sep 04 about 2 metres off the Stuart
Highway at Warlock Ponds south of Mataranka NT. There were hundreds
of dead cane toads along the side of, highway just off the bitumen and
there was another dead raptor, probably a black kite, in the grass
near the goshawk. Wonder if these raptors died eating toads or
whether they were killed by cars.

The dead goshawk was not one of the pair nesting at Mataranka as these
were seen earlier in the day and the dead bird was partly decomposed.

Observers : Norma and Bob Hambling, Sue and Max Meinhold.
