Is it not the case that attempting to measure the number of birdwatchers in
Australia is rather like trying to measure the number of angels that could
dance on the head of a pin (without defining "angel" or standardising the
size of the pin)?

Given the amount of habitat destruction still going on, and I can't see that
changing much for the better in the next 3 years, surely the only important
answer to "how many birdwatchers are there in Australia" is "not enough".
