I started feeding a magpie in August 1995, when I moved onto this block,
where I now live, I don't know how old she was then, she reared three young
that year and three every year since.
Her first "husband" ( a white-backed ) disappeared three years ago and she
now breeds with a Black-backed.
If I leave my front door open she will come in and stare at me (whatever I
am doing) until I get some food for her.
I know that people will say that I should not feed wild birds but she is not
totally reliant, I often spend several weeks away from home and she has
survived for nine years.
