Hi Birders,
The following interesting records have been reported for NSW in the past
week or so and have not appeared on this list so that it is worthwhile
repeating them here in the event that people may wish to have a look for
themselves.

Firstly a migrant note

2 White-throated Needletails were seen at Crescent Head 11/10 (Tim Morris),
these would appear to be the first NSW records this spring.

A male Ruff in full breeding plumage was reported at the high tide wader
roost at Stockton sandspit on 10/10 (Gerry Richards). It was not seen for
several days but was subsequently
seen at Milhams Pond, Ash Island & Stockton Sandspit on 9/10, but not since
as far as I am aware.

A Freckled Duck was seen at The Ranch HSD Boorooban and Pink Cockatoos at
Willowdell HSD Wanganella 2/10 (Stephen Walters), as Willowdell is on the
Hay Plains it is most unusual to have Pink Cockatoos at such a location. 7
Freckled Ducks were at the Leeton STW/Fivebough Swamp in late September.

A Painted Snipe was seen from the walking track at Fivebough Swamp, Leeton
4/10 (Mike Schulz) and has been seen since and at that same location over
1000 Glossy Ibis have been coming in roost at night, where Little Bittern,
Australasian Bittern and Blue-winged Parrots were seen on 7/10.

A female Painted Button-quail was at Murrumbung HSD Mardi 8/10 (John
Carpenter), no previous records for this site in 30 years.

Flock Bronzewings have been seen in NW NSW in the past month, 2 were seen 11
km S of Adelaide Gate, Sturt NP 6/10 (Eric Wheeler and others), 2 on 3/10
(Greg Clancy) who also saw 1 near Mt Wood HSD on the Wanaaring Rd on 8/10.

A Bustard with 2 chicks was seen near Packsaddle, NW NSW on 3/10 (Doug
Pleasance).

2A+J Pied Honeyeater seen 11 k S of Adelaide Gate, Sturt NP 6/10 (Eric
Wheeler)

Grey Falcons were seen at Sturt NP, near Mrt Wood HSD 28/9 (Russell Jago), 2
near Adelaide Gate 6/10 (Greg Clancy)

2 Painted Honeyeaters at Crafts Ck Reserve, Mangrove Mountain 2/10 (Margaret
& Kaye Pointer), this is a first for the Mangrove Mountain areas and only
the secord known record for the central Coast. They have not been seen
since.
