Hi all
Those interested in participating in the Rufous Scrub-bird surveys, a
few have already been undertaken, but there are still a heap to go.
Surveys so far have yielded high numbers of calling males in Barrington
Tops, Border Ranges and Gibraltar Range.
Dates and locations are:
Border Ranges 2 9-10 October 7.30am; Sheepstation Ck campsite
Barrington Tops 2 16-17 October 7.30am; Gloucester River campsite
Werrikimbe 1 19-20 October 7.30am; Plateau Beech Campsite, From
Beechwood, turn right into Bellangry Road at the park sign, then follow
the remaining signs along Hastings Forest Way to the camping ground. The
route includes unpaved roads, suitable for standard 2WD cars.
New England 1 21-22 October 7.30am; Leagues Scrub Flora Reserve, 8km
West of Bellingen, turn left into Horseshoe Road (dirt) travel 38km
until Mt Killiekrankie, then approx. 9km until reach Leagues Scrub.
Campsite is bush camping. Alternatively, accommodation at Bellingen. 4WD
recommended.
Lamington (QLD) 8-10 November TBA
Gibraltar Range 2 12-13 November 7.30am; Mulligan’s Hut campsite
New England 2 15-16 November 7.30am; Leagues Scrub Flora Reserve, 8km
