Following on from other postings about first arrivals for the season - A weekend exploring Little Forest Plateau in Morton NP (west of Milton, NSW South Coast) resulted in finding a great assortment of wildflowers, frogs, reptiles and birds including some fo the heathland specialists such as the emu wrens, however I was also rewarded with excellent views of three blackfaced monarchs, two chasing each other and calling, swooping all around me then landing within 5m foraging and calling.  A couple of Channel-billed Cuckoos were also seen flying overhead - its been a while since I have seen the flying umbrellas now I am based in Canberra.
