Just back from 4 days wandering about between Poolaijelo in far W Victoria and just around Penola in South Australia. Very basic list follows ...

Main points of interest about migrants - most cuckoos are back (but Pallids are scarce there), one triller, a few Rufous Songlarks; Chestnut-rumped Heathwren!! - local rarity & always nice to see; Western Gerygone - out of range; Olive Whistler - if of subspecies hesperus as appears, a rareish inland record (in pine plantation!!); Masked Owl - enigmatic as ever; Red-tailed Black-Cockatoo - just one pair of this very rare subspecies; generally lots of water and waterbirds.
